Orono Youth Football is a parent sponsored equipment program (just like hockey, baseball, etc.). With this program, parents can elect to purchase new or used equipment, have extra pants for practice, decide what type of helmet is preferred for your son, etc. Parents will not have to meet specific pick up or drop off dates. Parents have control on the condition of the equipment for your son each year.
We have chosen Westonka Sports as our preferred retail supplier for equipment. Specifics for equipment requirements are noted below. Westonka Sports will carry the required blue pants, red socks, and "game ready" helmets, which will include a hard cup chin strap and orono spartan stickers. All other equipment listed below will also be stocked. Westonka Sports will offer special Orono Youth Football Package Pricing with a 12% discount for your convenience and savings. Westonka will have trade-in programs for used helmet and shoulder pads.
Equipment is expected to be on the shelves at Westonka in mid July.
In addition to equipment sales, Westonka has agreed to provide free equipment to the scholarship players. We appreciate this gesture and hope parents find their product offering convenient and competitive.
Game jerseys will be handed out at practice before the game season. Players may keep their game jerseys at the end of the season. Below is a list of items to be purchased by parents.
Specific Uniform requirements:
Football pants: Dark Blue.
Helmet: White with a hard cup chin strap. Orono Spartan stickers for the side of the helmet will be available and applied at Westonka Sports or at the start of the season by the coaches.
Sock: Red, knee high
Additional equipment of parents choice:
Shoes (no metal spikes)
Shoulder pads (football only)
Mouth guards (suggest having a spare)
Protective cup
Practice jersey (blue similar to game jersey)
Practice pants (optional)
