Orono Youth Football

OYF has teamed up with General Sports. General Sports will provide two fit days at Orono. If you miss these dates, you can visit their retail store in Edina at 50th and France. We have revised our game pants to white this year to make it easier to purchase at most any store for your convenience. General Sports does have Orono ties and supports many local sport programs. Orders can also be placed on line.

Prior to registration, please check with your son for his favorite numbers. Each player will have the option of retaining their number from last year (grades 5-8) or select a new number (grades 4-8). Priority will be based on last years retaining number and then registration date for new numbers. We are requesting up to three numbers in the registration.

After August 1st, all registrations should register with "Other" and include three choices (this can include last year's number if desired). Numbers will be assigned as of this date so prior year numbers may have been selected by another player. If no choice is selected or all choices are taken, we will assign or do our best to assign one similar to selections.

We want everyone to have the proper size jersey. In an effort to achieve this goal, we ask that players identify their size before the season starts. Below is a size chart provided by the manufacturer. If it is as confusing to you as it is to me, the other option is to stop by one of two offered Fit Days at Orono. 

We offer jersey number selection on the registration form. Each player will have priority on their prior year's number. Any open number request will be based on registration date.

We do require jersey size on the registration form. If it changes before July 15, we can manage with written notice. Revisions after July 15 are subject to availability.

YL - 18.5", 26.5", up to 70 lbs
YXL/AS - 20", 27.5", up to 90 lbs
AM - 20 ", 32", up to 120 lbs
AL - 22", 33", up to 150 lbs
AXL - 24", 34", up to 180 lbs
AXXL - 26", 35", 200+ lbs

For reference, below were sizes used last year by grade:
4th - 1/2 YL, 1/2 YXL/AS
5th - Mostly YXL/AS
6th - 1/2 YXL/AS, 1/2 AM
7th - Mostly AM
8th - 1/2 AM, 1/2 AL, couple XL

Orono Youth Football is a parent sponsored equipment program (just like hockey, baseball, etc.). With this program, parents can elect to purchase new or used equipment, have extra pants for practice, decide what type of helmet is preferred for your son, etc. Parents will not have to meet specific pick up or drop off dates. Parents have control on the condition of the equipment for your son each year.

Game jerseys will be handed out at practice before the game season. Players may keep their game jerseys at the end of the season. Below is a list of items to be purchased by parents.

Specific Uniform requirements:

Football pants: White

Helmet: White with a hard cup chin strap. Orono Spartan stickers for the side of the helmet will be available and applied by the coaches at the start of the season.

Sock: Red, knee high

Additional equipment of parents choice:

Shoes (no metal spikes)

Shoulder pads (football only)

Mouth guards (suggest having a spare)

Protective cup

Practice jersey (blue similar to game jersey)

Practice pants (optional)
