Many of you may have known or heard of Tyler Hill. He was a former LMAA participant and son of the Mound/Westonka area director, Alan Hill. Tyler passed away in 2007. His family started a scholarship foundation in Tyler's name.
The board of directors for the LMAA voted to support this effort. In 2008, we created the LMAA Tyler Hill Scholarship Fund. The scholarship will be an annual award presented to former participants of the LMAA youth football program. The first year, it was presented to a Mound/Westonka student. Each year, the award will be given to a different school within the LMAA. Orono is scheduled to receive the award in 2009. The scholarship amount is $2,000 to be used for continuing education.
We will fund this program using $1 per player each year. Orono Youth Football donated $500 to kick off the fund for 2008. Other districts provided similar donations.
If you wish to contribute to this fund, the registration form will allow for a directed donation.
